YCTA obtained the membership of the international automobile federation FIA in 1996 and started organizing cars races in 1997.

YCTA continued functioning as an issuing club, issuing international customs documents (CPD) and international driving permit (IDP) besides representing and coordinating between the clubs abroad and the Yemeni customs authority.

By signing a contract agreement with the Yemeni customs authority on the first of September 2005, YCTA has become a guarantor club. Therefore, it opened six offices at the Yemeni border checkpoints for more facilitation and control over the vehicles coming to & leaving Yemen in which YCTA provided those offices with developed computerized systems. In addition, nowadays YCTA provides its services in most Yemeni major cities through 12 branches in the Republic of Yemen.

The clubs issuing trip tickets to Yemen have reached 7 and more clubs are on their way to do the same.

YCTA has helped noticeably in increasing land tourism activities where the number of vehicles visiting Yemen was only 6500 in 1995 and increased to 58798 in 2005.

YCTA was permitted to sell insurance documents for the vehicles visiting Yemen at the Yemeni border checkpoint offices.

Referring to all above mentioned services provided by YCTA through the international customs documents and international driving permits, it has been clear that YCTA has been a major factor in the improvement of tourism in Yemen.
