Yemen Club for Touring and Automobile (YCTA) was established by the end of eighties in which it got the membership of AIT (Alliance Internationale de Tourisme) in 1990 and then the membership of FiA (Federation Internationale de l'Automobile). Furthermore, Yemen Club for Touring & Automobile is a member of Universal Group of Companies; a pioneer group in Yemen specialized with different fields as tourism, travels, hotels, express mail, and car rentals.

The idea of facilitating the movement of both private and commercial vehicles came up at the beginning of the twentieth century and according to that the international customs committee functioning under the supervision of the United Nations proposed an international customs agreement to be signed by all countries all over the world to smooth the progress of using trip tickets (carnets). And the issuance of the document was assigned to AIT (the international tourism association) and FIA (the international automobile federation) both working under the regulations of the United Nations and consequently only one club is to be appointed in each country after making the necessary international insurance coverage for cars staying illegally in the countries visited.

YCTA was founded because of two believes; first is the necessity of encouraging land tourism to and from Yemen and second is completing the chain of services that Universal Group of Companies offer to its customers.
Moreover, as YCTA has sensed the serious intention of the political leadership in Yemen towards facilitating the entrance of vehicles to Yemen and promoting tourism, it worked on encouraging the tourism clubs in other countries in order to issue international customs documents (carnets-CPDs) to Yemen through signing contract agreements with the Yemeni customs authority in which those clubs guarantee the payment of the customs dues in case the vehicles remained illegally in the country and during those times YCTA was only representing the tourism clubs against the Yemeni customs
